Nyfw Day Six

One of my many quite overwhelming, pinch worthy moments of NYFW was sitting front row at the Oscar de la Renta show. The entire collection was stunning and in a complete league of its own. Perfectly executed old world elegance and opulence, yet paired down with rich colours and a hint of flower child. I’m not really one of many words but I think if you could see my face for that entire night, you would see how happy I was. Show footage coming shortly!

Between mid week fashion week outfit woes, with more casual morning presentations straight to formal front row runway’s at night, this black lace dress was the perfect versatile piece; and I have to pass on the compliments it received to the beautiful Australian designer, Fleur Wood. Shots taken while on a fashion week induced high in Bryant Park.

Wearing: Fleur Wood lace insert dress, Super sunglasses, Asos handbag, YSL ring, Michael Kors watch, NMRKT bracelets, Zara boots.

J Crew Nyfw

J Crew’s runway debut at the Lincoln Centre may have been my favourite presentation of the entire week. The collection stayed true to the brand’s preppy aesthetic, with saturated brights and quirky tailored pieces. I could see each and every piece having a space in my Spring wardrobe, my personal favourite being the sea green & blue matching pants ensemble.

Nyfw Day Two

Wearing; Zara blazer, HM shirt, Isabel Marant shorts, 3.1 Phillip Lim bag and Witchery flats.
The second day of fashion week started off with a relaxing walk through Central Park. It is eery and surreal being in New York. I can’t quite explain but maybe due to it being a last minute trip that it hasn’t sunk in yet where I actually am. It is not how I perceived it to be like London; but to me more of a mix between Berlin, Bangkok and Paris. On steroids (and seemingly stuck in the 90’s). Especially with all of the police checks causing traffic chaos- I had to submit to walking over 44 blocks in the blazing heat. Thank goodness I didn’t wear heels that day! Though I could never complain about anything when in New York.

Yigal Azrouel Pre

On Thursday I was invited to Yigal Azrouel’s studio show rooms to preview his Spring 2012 collection before it hit the runway on Friday. What I wasn’t expecting was to meet Yigal himself as he was fitting a model! I was introduced to structured, yet fluid designs in bright and bold colours like electric blues, reds and mustard yellows. My personal favourite pieces were the matching red tailored suit and slit back coats.

Nyfw Day One

Wearing; Sara Phillips skirt, 3.1 Phillip Lim handbag, HM shirt, Zara blazer and shoes, Michael Kors watch.

Day one of NYFW has come and gone quickly. The horribly rainy day started with breakfast with the radiant Nina Garcia at Marie Claire, before the sunshine came out for Rachel Antonoff, Gretchen Jones and a private preview of Yigal Azrouel’s collection. Followed by Fashion Night Out with Opening Ceremony at the Ace Hotel, and a sneaky pizza slice in Soho with some new blogger friends.

Cfda Incubator

Being shown around the CFDA Incubator studios of designers Prabel Gurung, Bibhu Mohapatra, House of Waris, Gemma Redux, Public School, Ruby Kobo and Alice Ritter was an unexpected, but amazing introduction to NYFW. We spoke with the designers who took some time out of castings and fittings to fill us in on upcoming collections and let us snap photos of their mood boards / inspirations / work in progress. My favourite’s of the day were Bibhu’s laser cut harness style drafts, Gemma Redux’s Mars inspired cuff, Ruby Kobo’s jewellery made from antlers and Alice Ritter’s bike she was detailing for Tour de Fashion
